Honourable mention in Norwegian Daily
I got some messages from my Norwegian friends today telling me that my blog is mentioned in one of the biggest Norwegian dailies , Dagbladet. It is being compared to Scott Schumans blog, The Sartorialist, and is being considered the trendiest of the two. I am honoured to have being given this kind of attention, although I must admit I think it's about time the fashonistas of the piste finally become the top trending topic.
It's summer, which means that the summer ski resorts are finally open. I have planned the Sartorialpiste Summer Tour for a while, and I will return here with an updated schedule soon so you can give me your local advises and inputs.
It's a long trip but I hope to get lots of great images.

On the Street...Kind of Blue
This woman is such a massive inspiration to me. I love studying the elements of her outfit; almost all of them are desirable in and of themselves and not just as a part of the whole. The rainbow patterns make an almost artistic contrast to the old fashion skis in the background. A great choice!
I must say I think she looks beautiful with her hair long and down. It really frames her features and makes her look young, feminine, and gorgeous.

On the Piste...Holy Cow!
I had a hard time remembering where I'd seen this style before. But finally my thoughts took me back to the Givenchy ‘09 Fall/Winter Haute Couture fashion show, where Liv Tyler appeared in a Givenchy dress in much the same style as this sartorialpista of a man.

On the Piste...The Perfect Pose
Thanks to Mick Lower for being a true fashionista, and for his outstanding trendspotting skills...
I am glad to see that the colorful art of Kandinsky, Picasso and Miro continue to inspire the 21 century designers, also within ski couture.

On the Piste...Les Gets, France
Sorry for having been inactive for a while, but I have been away taking some quite nice pictures that I will publish later, so stay tuned.
These wonderful pictures was sent to me by Tom Richardson. The picture in the middle actually almost got its own post: The Cred Crowd part 1. Ladies and Gentlemen, we are witnessing an early adaptor of next year's hat trend: furry with a twist. And I am so excited to see that the last picture shows us that the psychedelic vibes from the seventies are back. Thank you Tom for sharing!

On the Street...Gentleman, Whistler British Columbia
This must be the perfect couple. They complement eachother so well, and I am struck by the casual confidence this couple exude. Love her confident and relaxed appereance; her pose and clothes expresses that.
The dark yet colorful palette is very soothing with a very strong personality.
Thanks to Ian Simpkin from London, UK for sharing his picture.

On the Piste...Fitted Suit, Colorado
Definitely a runway look. It is interesting to see how he strikes a balance between the fluffy hair and the fitted suit. I cant help but wonder, to us who follow designer fashion, if we would like this look without the head band and the sunglasses (notice that he has chosen not to remove the UV-sticker on his left frame - that's bold!). Would this rose by anonimous designer smell just as sweet?
Big thanks to Live2Ski from the US for sharing his picture.

On the Piste...More Frozen Wave
Another contribution from Norway and the Frozen Wave Cult. Norway is really on the roll these days. Lots of contributions from them. Notice the O'Neill logo on the riders left leg. I wonder if this is the new or the old edition of the suit?
Thanks to Jørgen from Norway for sharing his picture.

Shiny Happy People...London
One thing is for sure... I'm digging out my copy of "The Official Preppy Handbook". This ain't no party, this ain't no disco... this ain't no foolin' around.
Thanks to Jenny from London, UK for sharing this picture.

Frozen Wave Cult...Oslo, Norway
I got a lot of response on my request regarding the O'Neill Frozen Wave Cult One Piece. Here you can see the beauty of the suit in action. Witness the epitome of comfortable and warm layering. Please also notice the use of accessories here.
Thanks to Andreas from Oslo, Norway for these amazing photos...

Back to the Future?
First of all; I apologize for the poor quality of the two pictures below, but I only had my iPhone at hand when I ran into this marvelous wholepiece in a small ski store this weekend. It seems like good old O'Neill has decided to become a real sartorialpiste, and the discovery really brings warmth to my heart. I especially like the post-World War II Western Art minimalism of the belt, as it reminds me of the early works of Donald Judd or Dieter Rams. Less is more, as van der Rohe so beautifully put it.
I also took the opportunity to capture some of the details (picture below). I have to be honest and tell you that I've never heard of The Frozen Wave Cult before, but it sure looks like they know the game. I get the old-school Radical vibes from the 80's here, mixed with the new-school tones of the twentieth century's Eastern Europe. If anyone knows anything about this piece, please let me know. I have spent the day trying to find it on the Internet, but no luck so far.

Indoor Connoisseur...Oslo
While spending a night in Oslo, Norway, I was invited to what turned out to be a real hipster party. This guy, obviously the hipster of all Norwegian hipsters, was really a mind opener for me.
He looks like he comes straight out of a Gauloise advert, the mind reels with french cool references like Godard and Assayas. He's deliciously androgynous - beautiful wintertime in Paris look.

On the Piste...Wedded in Style, Le Tour
I normally don't shoot more than one person at a time, but I had to make an exception running into this beautiful couple. They compliment each other so perfectly...I just love this guy's belt, and how it matches her choice of colors.

On the Piste...Grands Montets, Chamonix
I met this Italian guy in Grands Montets today.
This guy is all about detail...gloves, hat, mixed fabrics...
For me, I find a nice blend of patterns and colors. I just love how he keeps his suit unzipped over the boots. This is so Chanel gone open-mindedly into The Factory and then re-emerging months later.
It's the whole ensemble that looks good. No single element to pull out, it all works together. The tapered shapes, even his frames.
I wonder what kind of look the female equivalent would be?
